Mission

Our mission is to ensure that the environmental wellbeing of the Vumba environment is preserved for all those who live within it, including all peoples, flora and fauna and that today and in the future people from all over the world who visit the Vumba will have the opportunity to delight in the same environmental diversity.

Overview

Historically, this organisation originated when The Tiki Hywood Trust working with Environment Africa and the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, created WEPU , (wildlife environment protection unit). This initiative was then moved over into an association run by local residents who named the new organisation The Friends of the Vumba (FOTV), which was subsequently registered as a Trust.

Today the FOTV Trust employs 5 scouts with 3 motorbikes for mobility. They partner with National Parks armed rangers on occasion and have a unique approach to anti-poaching, combining with residents of the Vumba to create a defence system against all illegal activities.  They know the area, reside within it and are committed to conserving it.
